On September 14-17, 2011, Kyiv IRC conducted a conference “Electronic Books and Resources: Challenges and Possibilities for Libraries” for 58 Window on America (WOA) Heads and Library Directors in Lviv. This conference was an integral part of the International Book Fair “Lviv Book Forum.” The conference’s mission was twofold: to reinforce the importance of partnerships, and to encourage and disseminate new technology – iPads and Kindles. The Window on America conference helped Ukrainian librarians embrace strategic visions for the 21st century library and to discuss best practices from the U.S., given the rapidly evolving field of digital media. The partners participated in this conference included Peace Corps Volunteers and staff, a speaker from the Library of Congress, the Regional English Language Officer, American Councils and Education USA representative, a Washington DC representative of the Office of Innovative Engagement and an Information Resource Officer from Warsaw.

The conference was amazing!!! Such interesting guests and seminars! So many thoughts, feelings and new views on what the 21st century library should look like. MANY THANKS to everyone who organized it!
It was a good experience!
We really had a problem. For some reason the place of Kindle’s location was Ukraine, so it was impossible to download ebooks from Amazon.com for free. Then our volunteers helped us solve this problem, now everything is ok.
(New York Times, The Washington Post etc.)
