Adapting to Climate Change

Discuss worldwide efforts to monitor climate change, prepare for changing conditions and proactively manage climate-related disasters. Dr. Marcia K. McNutt is the director of the U.S. Geological Survey, in the Department of the Interior. A distinguished scientist and administrator, she previously served as president and chief executive officer of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), in Moss Landing, California. As a scientist, Dr. McNutt has participated in 15 major oceanographic expeditions and served as chief scientist on more than half of those voyages. She has published 90 peer-reviewed scientific articles. She received a B.A. degree in physics from Colorado College and earned a Ph.D. in earth science from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
